March is Women’s History Month, and residents of The Isle are in a great location to do so. No matter what your interests are, Philly and Manayunk have an array of different options to observe this occasion. Here are some of the highlights of what the area has going on this month.

Laurel Hill Cemetery – While going to a cemetery doesn’t usually seem like ideal weekend fun, on March 25th Laurel Hill Cemetery is holding a program to commemorate the beautifully interesting lives of some of the women buried there. This includes legendary women of the civil war, women who were on the Titanic, and members of the Philadelphia Orchestra. The program is called “Classy Broads and Daring Dames”. It costs fifteen dollars and includes a champagne toast at the end.

National Constitution Center – All month long the National Constitution center will be hosting different programs to honor Women’s History Month. We are most excited about their music video workshop that’s going to be examining Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance, and relating it to the women’s suffrage movement. Also be sure to see the artifact collection of Susan B. Anthony.

The Free Library of Philadelphia – There are several events and lots of locations to celebrate women at the Free Library of Philadelphia this year. Programs include author discussions, performances, workshops, and lectures. Take a look at their schedule and find something that works for you.
