3 Ways to Enjoy the Philadelphia Marathon

Did you know one of the most celebrated marathons in the country takes place right outside of your The Isle apartment? The Philadelphia Marathon returns to the area Nov. 16-18, with three days of racing opportunities for runners of all ages and abilities. The event brings thousands of runners and their supporters to locations throughout the route, which starts in Center City and cuts right through Main Street in Manayunk, before returning to the finish line near Eakins Oval.

There are several ways to participate: in the full 26.2 marathon, in a 13.1 half-marathon or an 8K race, and you can also get youngsters involved in a kids fun run. Our area provides a unique vantage point, as Manayunk spectators get to see the turnaround point, which will likely put a burst of energy into many runners’ stride, as they know the end is near! Bring a comfy chair, bundle up and make some creative signs to cheer on friends, family and even strangers.

Donate: The races raise funds for the American Association for Cancer Research. Even if you’re not running, you can donate to the cause, which has been supporting efforts to find a cure for cancer for more than 100 years.

Celebrate: Most of the runners will be heading out of Manayunk by late morning, which means one thing: brunch! Hit up one of the many Main Street restaurants serving up brunch to warm up and unwind from an exciting morning. Even if you didn’t race, you can still pat yourself on the back for the ro
