Welcome Manayunk’s Newest Pop-Up Beer Garden

For years, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society has operated a number of outdoor beer gardens in Center City, which provide a spot to eat, drink and socialize amid the festive, floral creativity that PHS is known for. While the downtown spaces are still open for business, if you’re looking for a watering hole a bit closer to your The Isle apartment, the beer garden gods have answered: PHS recently opened a brand new Pop-Up Garden right here in Manayunk.

Located in a formerly vacant lot just three blocks from your The Isle apartment, the venue has quickly become a Manayunk fan favorite. Plentiful seating—both suited for small parties and larger groups—surrounded by lush plants and flowers will have you feeling like you’re miles from Main Street, rather than steps. And, safety is the name of the game. The expansive, all-outdoor space is perfect for those who want to prioritize social distancing while still enjoying a night out. Masks are required and guests are limited to 90-minute visits. Patrons can also use a mobile app to order food and drinks right to their table to cut down on social interaction.

When it comes to the menu, the diverse selection will likely have you scheduling return trips throughout the fall. The garden serves a wide variety of snacks and light bites, including burgers, fries, tacos and chips and dips. On the drinks side, dive into more than 10 different draft brews, many of which are locally made, as well as an assortment of bottled and canned beers. The real standouts are the craft cocktails, with more than a dozen creative options, featuring freshly grown ingredients like basil and mint, and many of which are given a Philly spin like the Woodermelon or the Frozen Gritty Granita.

With its picturesque backdrop, laidback vibe and mouthwatering menu, the PHS Pop Up Garden is a welcome addition to Manayunk’s culinary community.
