Send Off Summer at This Semi-Outdoor Space

Summer of 2020 has been one for the books—we may not have gotten in the trip to the shore, the usual summer festival or all the bar crawling along Main Street that we’d like, but it’ll definitely be one to remember. As we prepare to say goodbye to summer, we’re also gearing up for a lot more indoor time, which can be a little nerve-wracking in our current conditions. So before the weather gets too chilly, take the opportunity to get out and about near your The Isle apartment and appreciate all of the creative ways to enjoy nature, get some exercise and maybe even learn a few things—all while staying safe and socially distant.

One such way to do all of that is the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education. Located just 3 miles from your The Isle apartment, the venue is an oasis for outdoor enthusiasts, providing comprehensive and hands-on education for more than 50 years. From wildlife rehab services to a broad range of educational programs—many of which have gone virtual—the center is a hub for environmental learning.

Starting this month, the Visitor Center reopened normal hours, so you can see firsthand the work the organization is doing in Philadelphia and beyond. Explore the center’s art gallery, highlighting local pieces focused on environmental topics, as well as exhibits focused on the organization’s groundbreaking work. Grab some birdseed from the gift shop to take along on your hike to attract some of the park’s many rare birds, or after your walk, stop by to bring a native plant home to your The Isle apartment. You can also just keep your visit strictly outdoors and explore the more than 300 acres of fields and forests, ponds and streams, trails and pathways.

Outdoor fun may be limited once the winter weather arrives, so take the opportunity now to enjoy all of the beauty and potential that abound right near your The Isle apartment!
