Where to Watch the Flyers

Now that the Eagles’ season is a wrap, many locals are turning their attention to another Philly sports team: the Flyers. Whether or not you’re a big hockey fan, it’s hard to resist the excitement of the game’s quick pace and back and forth nature—and when you factor in the unpredictable Broad Street Bullies, you’re guaranteed a good time! While you can always watch the game cozied up in your The Isle apartment, a high-energy matchup like hockey is the perfect excuse to get out and about to your local sports bar—and, lucky for you, there are plenty of options right here in Manayunk.

If you want to hit up a place with lots of sports history, check out the Bayou Bar & Grill, one of our area’s longest-running sports bars. The Main Street mainstay has been in business since 1993, serving up pub grub, a diverse selection of drinks and lots of team spirit for all of Philly’s sports teams!

On the food side, the Bayou Bites menu is a great option for an afternoon or evening of hockey-watching with your crew—with options like buffalo chicken nachos, wings, old bay fries and many more selections perfect for sharing. The New Orleans-inspired menus also feature lots of sizzle and spice for larger appetites—from the Cajun friend po’ boy to the steamed shrimp. Wash it all down with one of the eight beers on tap—many brewed locally!—and lots of creative cocktails and wines.

The Bayou is known for its food and drink specials, so if you’re on a budget but don’t want to miss the game, this is a great fit. For Monday night games, snag $.25 wings, or stop by on Wednesdays for $5 burgers and fries (wide a side of Quizzo!). Pitchers are just $4 on Thursday nights, and every Friday evening features $2 happy hours from 7-9 p.m. All weekend, Miller Lite pounders are just $3. And best yet, it’s all just two blocks from your The Isle apartment.

Go Flyers!
