If you’re looking for a new backdrop for your weekend run, and haven’t quite caught the holiday spirit yet, you’re in luck, as an annual charity fun run is about to take over Manayunk–and it’ll be sure to have you feeling festive!

The Rudolph Run will set off at 9 a.m. Dec. 7 along the Manayunk Canal, just three blocks from your The Isle apartment. This holiday themed, three-mile race winds along the scenic canal–offering plenty to see as you run! Participants are encouraged to go all out with their holiday attire: ugly Christmas sweaters, reindeer antlers, lights, green and red scarves–anything you can dig out of your closet at your The Isle apartment that screams holidays will be welcomed! The Manayunk Development Corporation will even be on hand passing out red noses to all runners. 

While the friendly competition is one focus of the event, it has a wider community vibe, as registration fees are waived in lieu of donated canned goods and other necessities that will be donated to North Light Community Center. The Manayunk nonprofit will distribute the goods to locals in need as part of its holiday drive.

That’s not the only sweet side of the Rudolph Run. After the event, all participants will be able to snag some specials along Main Street and beyond throughout the rest of the day. Nearly two dozen businesses have signed up to offer deals to runners, such as deals on drinks at local bars, specials on beauty treatments and fitness classes and plenty of discounted (and even free!) food.    

The Rudolph Run is a perfect way to kick off the holiday season in Manayunk–complete with festive community fun and plenty of opportunities to take in the seasonal sights and sounds of Main Street. See you there!
