Don’t Miss Your Last Shot at Padel!

If you’re looking for a new and exciting way to burn some calories, pick up a few skills and have tons of fun, you don’t have to travel far from your The Isle apartment to find it all! PADELphia opened its doors at Venice Island this spring, and there are only a few more days to try your hand (and feet!) at this pop-up court.

Just what is PADELphia? First, it’s a place for locals to learn about the sport of padel, a racquet-based sport that is wildly popular in Europe but is just starting to catch steam on this side of the pond. It has been said padel is a combination of tennis, squash, tennis and racquetball—with the strategic element of chess thrown in! There are 12 million players who match up at over 30,000 courts worldwide, now including right here in Manayunk. However, the local court is only open seasonally and packs it up for the fall at the end of this month.

So, there’s no better time than now to check it out! PADELphia offers private and group lessons and rents court time Monday-Saturday. The organization also organizes open-play events on Wednesday and Friday nights, where you can learn the ropes and get some practice in for just $10.

PADELphia is located just two blocks from your The Isle apartment, right off Main Street, meaning you can make your exercise excursion into a full day (or night!) out in Manayunk. Go head to head with friends and neighbors on the court, and then refill and refuel at any of the dozens of eateries and watering holes along Main Street. And with fall foliage now upon us, as well as tons of fall festivities and (hopefully!) beautiful weather, a trip to say farewell to PADELphia is a perfect way to welcome autumn to Manayunk.
