Unravel Your Creativity in Manayunk

August 16th, 2019
Did you know there’s a full-service yarn shop just minutes from your The Isle apartment? Hidden River Yarns is one of the hidden gems of Manayunk, a longtime favorite of fashion and design enthusiasts—and a great way to get in touch with your inner creativity and meet other local folks who you can both learn from and with!
Owned by self-proclaimed handcraft enthusiast Lisa Johnson, Hidden River Yarns is a one-stop shop for anything and everything handmade. Grab yarns of every hue and style, from nine different yarn-making companies, for your crafting project. Even if you don’t know exactly what you’re looking for, the owner’s expertise in the yarn industry can help guide you toward the right purchase. The shop features supplies to help you knit, crochet, sew and quilt—so no matter what you’re working on, you can find just what you need at Hidden River Yarns.
Crafting amateurs are also welcomed (and encouraged!). Hidden River Yarns hosts several weekly events to inspire locals to pursue handcrafting projects. From noon-3 p.m. every Wednesday and 6-8 p.m. on Thursdays, stop by for open stitch, where you can bring along your latest project and work on it with neighbors, who can offer helpful tips and suggestions. Handcrafting projects can often be tedious and time-consuming, so working on them alongside other creative minds can be a great way to stay on track and engaged—and meet your neighbors in the process! You can even bring along food and drinks to add to the social atmosphere.
And best yet, Hidden River Yarns is only two blocks from your The Isle apartment. So pack up your project and head right out onto Main Street to get your creative juices flowing.
