Roll the Dice at Roxborough’s Newest Hot Spot

If you want to take your board game night to new heights, you’re in luck! Our favorite neighbor, Roxborough, recently welcomed its very own café where board games take center stage on the menu. Basement Board Game Café, located just one mile from your The Isle apartment, opened in March to offer locals a fun fusion of small bites, coffee and a BYOB setting—all while visitors go head to head with old friends and new at hundreds of games.

A $10 admission fee will get you in the front door—and, from there, you can completely design your own experience. The café has more than 500 games in stock. There are the classics (think Monopoly and Guess Who?), modern party games like Cards Against Humanity and some unique offerings you may never have heard of. Games that range from two players to those that are a fit for big groups so, no matter your crew, you’ll be able to find a fit. Visitors are even invited to BYOBG (board game, that is).

The café is also BYOB—so you can grab your favorite wine or brew, a group of friends and set up your very own board game night (without having to do any clean-up in your The Isle apartment!). The shop sells a variety of coffees: espresso, Americano, cappuccino and macchiato, among them and, if you work up an appetite with all of your competition, you can grab some snacks or small bites. Basement Board Game Café serves everything from mac and cheese bites and chicken fingers to meat and cheese boards to grilled cheese sandwiches and paninis. You can even stop by on Sunday mornings for breakfast.

The café is open seven days a week, so no matter what type of gaming experience you’re looking for, you can find it at the Basement Board Game Café. Stop by today or—given its rising popularity!—book your seat ahead of time online to guarantee your spot. Good luck!
