3 Ways to Get into the Holiday Spirit in Manayunk

The holiday season is upon us! No matter what holiday you celebrate, this time of year is brimming with holiday traditions—from tree lightings to caroling to visits by Santa. If you’re feeling stressed out by your long holiday-shopping list or your end-of-year work crunch, don’t fret—Manayunk offers tons of holiday traditions that will be sure to get you in the festive holiday spirit.

Here are a few of the standout events happening near your The Isle apartment this season:

Caroling at Gorgas Park: Join the Friends of Gorgas Park for their annual holiday-caroling event Dec. 2 at Gorgas Park, one mile from your The Isle apartment. From 5-7 p.m., enjoy the sounds of the season, dance performances, raffles, holiday lights, hot chocolate and cookies.

Rudolph Run: Manayunk.com hosts this annual tradition on Dec. 8. Starting at Canal View Park, two blocks from your The Isle apartment, the three-mile run takes racers along the canal. While the event is a great way to get some exercise and get into the spirit of competition, it’s also meant to get runners into the holiday spirit. Participants are encouraged to wear holiday attire. From reindeer antlers to ugly Christmas sweaters, nothing is off limits! All runners who take part can score deals and steals at local restaurants and shops throughout the day. Even if you’re not a runner, spectators are welcomed!

Manayunk Meals: Perhaps the best way to get into the holiday spirit is by giving back, which is what Manayunk Meals is all about. The donation campaign encourages locals to donate non-perishable food items throughout the month at boxes set up at a series of Main Street businesses. On Dec. 23, join your fellow Manayunk residents to help distribute the items to locals in need.
