Roxborough Welcomes Fall with Festivals

October 4th, 2018
The start of autumn means pumpkin lattes, sweater weather and fall festivals! You can get the first two in spades along Main Street in Manayunk, and the third is also being served up in nearby neighborhoods, including Roxborough, just a few blocks from your The Isle apartment. There’s no better time to get out and about in the local neighborhoods than fall—temps are cool, businesses and homes are dressed up for Halloween and warm cider (spiced or not!) makes any weekend better. So put on your boots and pound the pavement for these popular fall festivals:
Roxtoberfest: This sixth-annual Oktoberfest-themed celebration will be held from noon-6 p.m. Oct. 6 on Ridge Avenue, between Lyceum and Leverington avenues, six blocks from your The Isle apartment. The event will feature food trucks serving up everything from tacos to ice cream, including a number from right here in our local area. Local will also be the focus of a beer garden, featuring seasonal brews, including ciders. Visitors can peruse tables of vendors that will include community organizations, local businesses and artisans selling wares like clothing, artwork and home goods. The day is family-friendly, with lots of arts and crafts and carnival games for the kids. There will be live performances throughout the day, including a number that pay tribute to the German heritage of Oktoberfest—with German music and polka dancing.
Gorgas Park Harvest Fest: From 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 7, catch Harvest Fest at Gorgas Park, one mile from your The Isle apartment. If you have little ones in your life, make sure to bring them along for pumpkin painting, scarecrow making, crafts, games and much more. There’s plenty for adults to see and do as well, including local food and drinks—and the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful fall foliage in the park.
