Ways to Cool Off in Manayunk

These are the dog days of summer! Chilling in your The Isle apartment with the air cranked up is one way to beat the heat but staying cool doesn’t have to only be an indoor venture. There are a number of outlets throughout Manayunk where residents can cool down without losing their tan!

Venice Island Performing Arts Center: Located just one block from your The Isle apartment, the performing arts center has its own sprayground where locals of all ages can enjoy water sprinklers. Kids will love running under the cold water but adults are just as welcomed to get in touch with their inner child and dash under for a good dunking! The area is a perfect spot for runners and bikers in need of a break (and a good summer soaking!).

Schuylkill River Trail: Located just outside your The Isle apartment, the trail spans the stretch of the Manayunk Canal and is a popular spot with fitness fanatics. It also attracts those seeking some solace from the summer heat. With its tree-lined walkway and proximity to the canal and adjacent Schuylkill River, the temps on the trail will definitely provide a needed cooldown.

Philadelphia Canoe Club: Hit the river with the Philadelphia Canoe Club, one mile from your The Isle apartment. The organization offers instructional classes on canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding and more. Once you get your feet (literally!) wet, you can join the club on local outings throughout the region.

Wissahickon Creek: Your The Isle apartment is just one mile from the mouth of the Wissahickon Creek, which winds all the way from the Schuylkill River through the cavernous Wissahickon Valley Park. Hike or bike the trails of the park—which provides tons of tree shade, perfect for a sultry summer day—and then dip your toes (or more if you’re feeling adventurous) in the creek. The area is popular with fishers as well as with those with four-legged friends who enjoy a good water-filled romp after a long day of hiking!
