How to Celebrate 4th of July in Manayunk

Your The Isle apartment is smack dab in the middle of an area filled with history. Philadelphia is considered the birthplace of the nation, so it would only make sense for the area to go all-out on the most patriotic day of the year—and it does!

From parades to historical events to community celebrations, the 4th of July is a great opportunity to gather with friends and family in Manayunk for a day-long holiday outing. Here are just a few of the standout ways to celebrate this year. Don your red, white and blue and we hope to see you out there!

Independence Day Parade: The oldest 4th of July parade in the city steps off from Lyceum and Manayunk avenues, just four blocks from your The Isle apartment. The 21st Ward Fourth of July Association organizes the annual event, which dates all the way back to 1831. Today, the parade features a caravan of locals in bikes, scooters, strollers, antique cars, horse-drawn carriages and more. The event wraps up at Gorgas Park with classic 4th of July barbecue food, raffles and games. The fun kicks off at 9 a.m. July 4.

July 4th in Freedom’s Backyard: If you want to really get into the spirit of the holiday, head to Historic Germantown, three miles from your The Isle apartment for a firsthand look at some of the buildings that factored into the nation’s founding. Free programming will be held at sites throughout the historic neighborhood, which was central to the Revolutionary War. Tour historic homes that date to the 1700s and enjoy food, patriotic activities, historical reenactments and more.

Stroll the Street: Keep the party going the day after Independence Day with Stroll the Street, the seasonal Thursday-night Main Street celebration, held right outside your The Isle apartment. Each week, enjoy discounted food and drinks, sidewalk sales and community activities. On July 5, Stroll the Street marks Fitness Night, so you can get to work burning off all those burgers and beers you had the night before!
