Explore Your Artistic Side in Roxborough

Does this spring weather have you feeling inspired?

If you’re looking for a way to get out and about in the neighborhood and engage with the energy that often flows when the sunshine makes its return, head over to the Art is Life Festival.

Held April 21 on Ridge Avenue, between Green Lane and Leverington Avenue, about one mile from your Isle apartment, the festival is a hub of creativity and culture.

As the name suggests, the festival focus is on art—with more than 20 artisans and crafters staging pop-up shops showcasing their products. The vendors run the gamut: There will be candle makers, jewelry crafters, painters, photographers, soap makers and much more. The festival is a great spot to grab some decorations for your The Isle apartment, or a few new accessories to add to your spring wardrobe. Mother’s Day and Father’s Day will both be here before we know it, so now is a perfect time to stock up on creative and crafty gifts.

While the spotlight is on the artisans, the festival features a lot of other offerings as well. Once you’ve worked up an appetite with all that shopping, stop by one of the handful of food vendors. Philly-area food trucks will be well-represented, selling everything from funnel cake to tacos to cheese curds, and they’ll joined by local favorites such as Deke’s BBQ, one mile from your Isle apartment, which will set up on site to cater to hungry carnivores.

The festival will showcase local talent, including musicians and dancers, and is a great opportunity for community-building. Bring along the pets and some neighbors and get out in the community to get to know the businesses, organizations and, most importantly, people that make the Manayunk and Roxborough communities as vibrant and diverse as they are.
