Philadelphia is a city of firsts—first zoo, first stock exchange, first penitentiary—and yes, the first place to coin the term “Quizzo.”

The beloved trivia game, usually played at bars and restaurants, was begun right here in the City of Brotherly Love, and you can find a rousing game nearly any night of the week in any neighborhood, including right near your The Isle apartment! A number of Manayunk venues host weekly trivia events, which often draw big crowds who use the occasion as a way to unwind after work and socialize with friends on a set schedule. Most Quizzo locations offer food and drink deals during the games, which occasionally feature themed questions around pop culture, history or other topics.

So put on your thinking caps, grab your crew and head to these local spots to put your trivia knowledge to the test and compete for great prizes:

Cactus: This Tex-Mex bar and grill, just one block from your The Isle apartment, features Quizzo Thursday nights. Every seven weeks, the top-three winners from the previous weeks’ games will go head to head in Battle of the Champions to compete for $500 in prizes.

Pitchers Pub: One block from your The Isle apartment, Pitchers Pub hosts Quizzo from 9-11 p.m. every Wednesday. Specials include $4 local drafts.

The Bayou Bar & Grill: It’s hard to beat the Quizzo specials at The Bayou, one block from your The Isle apartment. Games are played from 10 p.m.-midnight every Wednesday, and players can snag $1 drinks during that time. The Bayou also serves $5 burgers every Wednesday from 3-11 p.m.

Sona Pub & Kitchen: Two blocks from your The Isle apartment, Sona Pub & Kitchen stages trivia at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. During the games, enjoy $15 Bud Lite bottle buckets and grab snacks to share, as all food items are buy one, get one half-priced.
