Support the Local Economy: Celebrate Small Business Saturday in Manayunk This Year

Mark your calendars! Small business Saturday is on November 25th this year. All over the nation consumers will be taking advantage of this annual event, but we can’t imagine a better place to celebrate and support small businesses than Manayunk. For those who don’t know, Small Business Saturday is a relatively new holiday that was created in 2010 to coincide with Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It was created to encourage people to choose brick and mortar stores instead of the big box stores that the holiday shopping rush is usually geared around. Sponsored by American Express, the event grows more and more every year. Small Business Saturday is a great way to support the local economy and Manayunk really has a downtown worth celebrating.

Small businesses in Manayunk are embracing this modern holiday and residents of The Isle can reap the benefits. Many of the local shops will be offering sales, specials, events, and freebies in honor of the day. Be sure to take advantage of the wholesale pricing at Nadeau and grab a free gift with any purchase at Latitudes & Longitudes. The Little Apple will be sporadically giving away gift cards and sweet treats to lucky customers. When you’re done shopping, enjoy a meal with free peach cobbler at Deke’s BBQ or get 20% off at The Spicy Belly with proof of purchase from another Manayunk business.  There are so many more deals to be had, you can find a full list of participating shops on the MNYK website.

Head over to Canal View Park for a festive end to your Small Business Saturday. The annual tree lighting ceremony starts at 5:30 PM. Attendees can enjoy performances by Merge Dance Studio, 54th & City, and the Delaware Valley Opera Company. Make sure you bring the whole family, rumor has it Santa himself might make an appearance.
